To choose the most cost-effective materials, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of various decoration and renovation materials in the market in advance. Below, a comparison of the differences between several common materials in the two most important aspects of the operating room (floor and ceiling) is summarized.

 


1. Selection of Ground Materials

There are many types of materials for cleanroom floor decoration, mainly including terrazzo, epoxy resin, rubber roll, glazed ceramic tiles, PVC roll, etc. In such material selection, the key lies in how to select according to what standards. Usually, a comprehensive analysis should be conducted based on both technical and economic indicators before making a selection. The following will analyze five common types of materials as examples.

1) Glazed ceramic tiles

In terms of technical indicators, the surface is smooth and flat, wear-resistant and compressive, and has good anti-corrosion effect, but the impact resistance is poor, it is not easy to accumulate dust, easy to clean, and there are gaps in the friction force. This also means that there may be safety hazards in the use of hospitals, which do not meet the requirements of the national standard GB50333-2002. In terms of economic indicators, it has good persistence, is easy to maintain, and relatively low cost. Overall judgment: It does not meet the standards and is not recommended for use.

2) Epoxy resin floor

In terms of technical indicators, it is smooth and flat, not easy to accumulate dust, easy to clean, and has good anti-corrosion effect, good slip resistance, and strong corrosion resistance. In terms of economic indicators, maintenance is difficult and the cost is relatively low. Overall judgment: Although it meets the usage standards, it is not recommended.

 

 

3) Terrazzo

In terms of technical indicators, the surface is smooth and seamless, easy to clean, resistant to pressure and wear, and slip resistant, but difficult to resist disinfectants, making it difficult to ensure the construction effect. At the level of economic indicators, although the cost is relatively low, the maintenance difficulty is high, often requiring a lot of manpower and material resources, and sometimes the maintenance effect is not ideal. Overall judgment: The terrazzo does not meet the standards and is not recommended for use.

4) Rubber floor

In terms of technical indicators, it is smooth and seamless, easy to clean, wear-resistant and pressure resistant, with strong anti-corrosion and anti slip properties; In terms of economic indicators, it is also difficult to maintain, which will bring a significant economic burden to hospitals and does not meet the requirements of energy conservation. Meanwhile, the cost of this material is relatively expensive, so even if it meets the usage standards, it is often not recommended.

5) PVC roll material

In terms of technical indicators, this material is similar to rubber material and has good anti-corrosion and compression resistance. The seamless gap is easy to clean, and the impact resistance is good. From the analysis of economic indicators, PVC coils have good durability, relatively easy maintenance work, and a moderate cost. Therefore, after integrating the technical and economic indicators of the five types of materials mentioned above, it can be concluded that PVC coil material is a better choice for ground decoration and can be further promoted.

 


2. Selection of ceiling materials

After investigation, it was found that in some hospitals with better conditions in China, the ceiling materials used include four types of materials: sandwich color steel panel, electrolytic steel plate+antibacterial coating. Similarly, based on its technical and economic indicators, it can be summarized as follows.

1) Inorganic composite panel

In terms of technical indicators, this material is smooth and flat, capable of insulation and fire prevention, and easy to clean. However, it is prone to gaps and does not meet the requirements of "no dust accumulation" in hospital cleaning rooms. Moreover, the corrosion resistance of this material is poor, and the difficulty of circular arc construction is high. From the analysis of economic indicators, although this material has a low cost, it is difficult to maintain and has poor durability. Therefore, after comprehensive judgment, it is believed that the inorganic composite board does not meet the usage standards.

2) Composite aluminum panel

In terms of technical indicators, this material is similar to inorganic composite boards, both of which are smooth materials that do not produce dust and are heat-resistant, but there are cracks that are not corrosion-resistant, and the construction difficulty is also high. It is also prone to dust accumulation and is not suitable. From the analysis of economic indicators, the durability of composite aluminum panels is poor, the cost is moderate to high, and it is difficult to maintain. Therefore, this material does not meet the hospital cleanroom usage standards.

 

 

3) Electrolytic steel plate+antibacterial coating

This material has a smooth surface without gaps, does not accumulate dust or generate dust, is easy to clean and corrosion-resistant, and the circular arc construction is relatively easy, meeting the relevant technical requirements. From the analysis of economic indicators, although this material has good durability, it incurs relatively high maintenance costs. At the same time, the production cost of electrolytic steel plate itself is also high. For some hospitals, it will consume too much economic cost, and maintenance work is also difficult. Therefore, it is ultimately believed that although electrolytic steel plate+antibacterial coating meets the usage standards, it is difficult to promote in major hospitals due to economic constraints and is not recommended.

4) Sandwich color steel panel

On a technical level, this material has no cracks or dust, has good fire resistance, is heat-resistant and easy to clean, and is easy to construct with circular arcs. However, the only drawback is that its corrosion resistance is slightly poor. In terms of economic indicators, the durability of sandwich color steel plates is poor, maintenance work is slightly difficult, and the cost is low. Overall, the utilization rate of sandwich color steel plates is relatively high, and they meet the usage standards, which is more in line with the current medical conditions. Therefore, they can be used as the preferred material for suspended ceilings in hospital cleanroom operating rooms.
